Itinerary

Day 1
Arrive in Auckland
Upon arrival you will be met by the local representative in the arrival hall and transferred to hotel in a private vehicle. Visit Sky tower in the evening and later take a short walk to Viaduct harbour. Overnight in Auckland.

Day 2
Auckland – Bay of Islands
Today, travel north over Auckland’s Harbour Bridge and along the Hibiscus Coast. There is the opportunity to view mighty Kauri Trees enroute. The journey continues, travelling through Whangarei, Northland’s only major city and port, before arriving in the beautiful Bay of Islands. This afternoon, enjoy a guided tour of the Waitangi Treaty Grounds to learn about New Zealand’s historic treaty signed between the British Crown and the Maori Chieftains. Following this, take a ‘Hole in the Rock and Cape Brett’ cruise. If you wish, you may disembark from this cruise in romantic Russell and take some time to explore this historic town, returning to Paihia by local ferry at your leisure (ferry ticket included). Overnight in Paihia. (B)

Day 3
Bay of Islands
Today the day is at your leisure to enjoy the Bay of Islands and Northland. You can take an optional Cape Reinga and 90 Mile Beach day tour or take time to explore historic Russell or Kerikeri. Overnight in Paihia. (B)

Day 4
Bay of Islands – Auckland
The morning is free until your coach departure (seat in coach passengers only) later this afternoon. For self drive passengers, you may like to return to Auckland on the alternative west coast route through the Waipoua Forest and visit the might kauri trees. At leisure this morning to further explore this beautiful region. Later this afternoon return to Auckland. (B)

Day 5
Auckland – Rotorua
Travel south to arrive at Waitomo for a guided tour of the world famous Waitomo Glowworm Caves. Continue over the Mamaku Ranges to reach the ‘Thermal City’ of Rotorua. Today you can visit the Agroventures and try your hand at different activities like Swoop, Schweeb, Ifly or jet boating Overnight in Rotorua.

Day 6
Rotorua – Taupo – Tongariro National Park
Leaving the Thermal City behind, drive to Taupo, home of New Zealand’s largest lake and the majestic Huka Falls. Take some time to explore Taupo and the lake before driving around the edge of Lake Taupo and into the Tongariro National Park. Overnight in Tongariro National Park. (B)

Day 7
Tongariro National Park
Today is at leisure to explore the Tongariro National Park and the many walking tracks in the area, including the world-famous Tongariro Crossing. Overnight in Tongariro National Park. (B)

Day 8
Tongariro National Park – Wellington
Departing the Central Plateau, head south through farmlands to the capital city, Wellington. You can visit the famous Te Papa Museum or just relax on the popular waterfront, take a film tour and find out why New Zealand’s capital is known as Wellywood, stay out late in the lively Courtenay Place entertainment district and enjoy panoramic views of a city hugged by harbour and hills. Overnight in Wellington. (B)

Day 9
Wellington – Nelson
Return your rental car this morning in Wellington to take the Interislander Ferry to Picton. Travel through the Marlborough Sounds and enjoy the scenic view from the ferry. On arrival in Picton, collect your rental car and continue through the Queen Charlotte Drive to Nelson. Overnight in Nelson. (B)

Day 10
Nelson
Today is at leisure to explore Nelson and the nearby Abel Tasman National Park. You try your hand at sea kayaking and enjoy the golden sandy beaches or take walking trail in the national park. Overnight in Nelson. (B)

Day 11
Nelson – Greymouth
Today travel through the picturesque Nelson lakes district to reach the rugged West Coast. You can also visit the pancake rocks at Punakaiki enroute to Greymouth. Overnight in Greymouth. (B)

Day 12
Greymouth – Glacier Region
Bid farewell to Greymouth and continue south along the West Coast to reach the glacier region. Overnight in Glacier Region. (B)

Day 13
Glacier Region
A full day at leisure to explore this magnificent glacier region. Optional activities include a scenic flight or guided walk on one of the glaciers. Overnight in Glacier Region. (B)

Day 14
Glacier Region – Queenstown
Depart the Glacier Region today through spectacular mountain ranges, native forests and lakes to Haast Pass, gateway to World Heritage Westland National Park. Follow the shores of Lakes Hawea and Wanaka to reach Queenstown. Overnight in Queenstown. (B)

Day 15
Queenstown
Today, after breakfast travel to Queenstown, you have an option to enjoy the exciting Shotover Jet Boat Ride, bungee jumping, river rafting, sky diving or sky swing (activities not included). Overnight in Queenstown. (B)

Day 16
Queenstown – Te Anau
Depart Queenstown this morning for the short journey to Te Anau. Enjoy a free day in Te Anau today. Optional activities include travelling via the world famous Milford Sound or an excursion to the Te Anau glowworm caves. Overnight in Te Anau. (B)

Day 17
Te Anau – Dunedin
Leave Te Anau this morning for a drive through historical Central Otago to the Scottish influenced city of Dunedin. Overnight in Dunedin. (B)

Day 18
Dunedin
This morning enjoy a sightseeing tour of Dunedin city. You can to take an optional tour to Otago Peninsula this afternoon to visit Larnach Castle or view the resident penguin or albatross colonies. Overnight in Dunedin. (B)

Day 19
Dunedin – Christchurch
Depart Dunedin and travel north to the Garden City of Christchurch. This afternoon is at your leisure in Christchurch. (B)

Day 20
Departure Christchurch
Proceed to the airport for flight back home. (B)
